Sri Lanka’s most respected publication going online, thanks to gracious ideas from Burgundy that create a thought-provoking experience for the readers.
Taking CEO magazine Sri Lanka Online – Readership increased
The CEO Magazine Sri Lanka is a magazine entirely dedicated to Sri Lankan leaders who have outperformed in the industry. Magazine used to be a printed publication issued quarterly with a limited number of readers.
Being a strategic branding consultant, Burgundy could spot the opportunity that CEO magazine Sri Lanka is having in the local market with a good reading community. Therefore, Burgundy’s Objective was clear – To position The CEO Magazine Sri Lanka as Sri Lanka’s highly recognized publication media that honours the great local leadership in the business world. It aims to provide a platform for all genres of corporate icons to tell their career stories, voice their opinions, share their expertise, and promote themselves and their brands, while at the same time educating, inspiring and stimulating aspiring business leaders.
Distinct to the printed publication, online publications need to fulfil requirements such as user-friendliness, easy navigation, readability, consistent style and interactive. We also had the challenge to make the CEO Magazine Sri Lanka franchise associate with the CEO Magazine global brand as well.

Our approach in art direction and technology was unique. We wanted to give an editorial and sophisticated expression to the design and navigation. We took our inspiration from the leadership, using a rich colour palette – black and gold. We used the “Essonnes” font family as the primary typeface for the brand. Essonnes being a serif had expressed the serious and superior look & feel for the website. A sans-serif is used for the body, to keep the balance between sans and serifs.
We used black & gold, black & white themes for cover images for certain important sections of the editorial. We wanted the aesthetic to be minimalist, elegant, sophisticated and powerful.
The easy function of the digital platform had created stress-free navigation for all the users. The magazine readability had increased by 50%. The unique visual language had been valued by the target audience and the magazine had become the most recognized editorial that honour the leadership of Sri Lanka.
