Story Telling is important!

Today, my creative team at Burgundy could conduct our first creative thinking workshop for children in Galle, keeping the mission to uplift the creativity of children. Even though it went really well, some incidents made me realise that kids should develop further to express their selves to be successful in life.

The most powerful person in the world is the story teller. The story teller sets the vision, values and agenda of an entire generation that is to come . ~ Steve Jobs

Well, Stories play a vital role in the growth and development of children/ personality. The stories they read, the stories they say, and the characters they meet, will help the child to sharpen up his imagination and helps to express himself.

01. Improve Learning and Understanding:

Stories are the best way to get familiar with new words, numbers, shapes, colours, feelings and as well as new concepts, about the world, life and good habits. It supports to improve the understanding; on people, diversity, good and bad etc.

02. Development of Imagination:

“I’m enough of an artist to draw freely on my imagination, which I think is more important than knowledge. Knowledge is limited. Imagination encircles the world.”

— Albert Einstein

Today most of us are knowledge chasers. Knowledge is better to have but if you have imagination, then you are fortunate as it engages in action. Imagination uses our knowledge, our brain, the senses, and emotions effectively to create pictures in the mind, which will ultimately help to create something novel. Imagination helps us to explore more beyond boundaries where it finally results in the invention.

03. Bring out the “Leader” in you:

You might have heard of this ancient saying, “Leaders cannot be made, they are born”. Well, if you know your language well if you are knowledgeable and you are visionary (imagination) then definitely it will make you a good leader / bring out the “leader” in you

04. Improve Communication Skills.

What we have experienced here in the workshop was, the children are not capable of communicating their ideas properly. Being able to communicate your idea to the right person, at right time, in the right manner will make you successful. Revolutionary ideas take time to develop, but only the way you communicate matters to keep them alive or dead.
